Details on San Diego's 2019 Pride Parade - July 13
We hope you can come and support the BTSD contingent in Saturday’s Pride Parade!
Some of you may even be playing drums on the float or walking the parade with the float. Many more of you will be watching the parade from the sidelines.
Large crowds are expected so you’ll want to plan ahead.
Who: As in recent years, the Temple marches in the parade with our own Taiko group on a flatbed trailer. (Others will opt to simply watch the parade.) As last year, Kenji Sensei will drive the truck that pulls the float almost a mile and a half through Hillcrest. This year BTSD Taiko is joined by members of San Diego Taiko.
When: The parade starts at 10 a.m. this year (an hour earlier than last year) on Saturday, July 13.
Where: This year the parade starts at the intersection of University and Normal, then proceeding west on University Avenue to Sixth Avenue and then south to Balboa Drive and Quince Street.(See map below.)
Parking: To accommodate the crowds, the old Naval Hospital location off of Park Boulevard will have free shuttle services. Learn more about parking options here.
Why Plan Ahead: San Diego’s parade is one of the largest in the nation, so you need to have a game plan.
More Active Participation: If you would like to lend a hand to decorate the Temple float, that is happening early Saturday morning, starting at 7:30 a.m., and you will need additional information on where and how to meet in Hillcrest. Reach out to the Temple office at info@btsd.net or 619-239-0896 for the helpful handout prepared by Laverne Imori. Thanks Laverne!
