Getting Ready for the Year of the Rat

The Temple’s 2020 New Year’s Party is January 19 following the Sunday service. The deadline for reserving the lunch is January 12.

Don’t forget, all new members (whether you joined in 2019 or 2020) are free as are all our wonderful members 88 years of age or older!

Whether you will be paying or attending as our guest, you will still need to make your reservation, though, so don’t delay!

Note on Image: Taken wildly out of context, and used here to highlight the Year of the Rat, this illustration is by the famous artist Katsushika Hokusai. He created it for use in Raigō Ajari Kaisoden (頼豪阿闍梨恠鼠伝) by Takizawa Bakin, published in the late Edo period (1800s). In Bakin’s fantastic tale, a samurai is confronted by a magical giant rat. The version of the image shown above was edited in a minor way to remove some blemishes and improve visibility.
