Join Us for Friendly Dharma Sunday Jan. 28

 
 

Our Family Dharma Service starts at 10 a.m. on Sunday, January 28, when Chairperson Lisa Umekubo, Dharma Leader Arturo Rubio, and his fellow Certified Minister’s Assistant, Yukari Williams, all welcome you to our friendly service sharing the Buddha’s teachings.

Note also that we have two activities starting earlier at 9 a.m. if interested.

SCHEDULE — Optional Activities

9:00 a.m. 

  • In the Sangha Hall (our small building), Kaytee Sumida, Minister’s Assistant, presents Intro to Buddhism, a short overview of the Buddha’s teachings, and including an introduction to our Temple.

  • In the Hondo (our main hall on the top floor of our large building), you are welcome to join our Chanting Group Practice before the service. New members are welcome. 

10:00 a.m. - Family Dharma Service (in Hondo(

  • Prior to the ringing of the Bell, individuals may offer incense.

  • 10:00 a.m. Kansho (Calling Bell) calls us to service.

  • Lisa welcomes us all with opening comments. 

  • Arturo leads us in ritual and service,

  • Yukari shares the Dharma School message.

  • The Dharma School will be excused to classes.

  • Bill shares the Adult Dharma Talk.

  • Trishia will accompany several gathas or hymns.

  • Lisa will share closing comments and remind us to offer incense.

Following the service, all are welcome to join us in the Annex Hall for the yearly Membership Meeting, which is preceded by a potluck. Main dishes are provided by the board. You are welcome to bring a side dish or dessert if you would like.
You do not have to be a member to attend the potluck or the membership meeting, However, only current members are allowed to vote. The meeting requires a quorum of 25 voting attendees. .
