Congrats to Dharma School on Success of "Stuffies" Drive
Thanks to the Dharma School efforts, our generous Sangha, and a special assist from our BCA Southern District Conference on Nov. 18, our Temple collected over a hundred stuffed animals. This was a significant donation to this multi-faith collaboration.
The Annual Stuffed Animal Drive benefits children in San Diego and includes hundreds of volunteers from all over San Diego and Imperial Counties. For our part, the Buddhist Temple of San Diego joined many organizations. Participants included the Bahá’í Faith Center of San Diego, Islamic Center of San Diego, St. Andrews Lutheran Church, St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, St. Andrews Lutheran Church, St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, Our Mother of Confidence Catholic Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and other religious groups.
More groups and businesses lending a hand include Cameron’s Mobile Estates; Fashionphile; Ideal Plumbing, Heating, Air, Electrical; Knobbe Martens Law Firm; Patenaude & Felix A.P.C. law firm; PetSmart (Clairemont, Pacific Beach & Serra Mesa ); and the JustServe Student CLUBs from Helix Charter High School & Poway High School.
The collected stuffed animals that will provide much needed comfort to sick and under-privileged children right here in San Diego.
The JustServe.org website helped donors find their nearest drop-off location; KUSI News helped to promote the drive throughout the drive’s last week on their Good Morning San Diego segment.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego (which supports local hospitals including Rady Children’s Hospital) expressed their deep gratitude for these donations that will bring comfort to so many little ones.
