Amazon Discontinues Smile Program as of February 20

If you are one of the Temple Members who used Amazon Smile (the Amazon Foundation program that donates a small part of your purchase price to BTSD), many thanks!

In most cases you already received an email from Amazon. For others here is a reminder in the final days of the program that you can chose BTSD under Amazon Smile to help send a half cent on the dollar of every purchase to BTSD.

Even Micropayments Make a Difference

Although the percentage of a purchase that Amazon sent our way was very small, that is, the Temple would often gain a thousand dollars each year from this program alone. Thank you all, very much.

Importance of Scrip

Our scrip program, in contrast, continues and provides much more revenue to the Temple. Vendors that allow us to sell scrip (in the form of prepaid gift cards, typically) range from a few percentage points to much higher. You get full value of the script. Contact the office for a current Scrip list or to make your order. We have some scrip on hand and can order other scrip for you if we don’t.

Other Ways to Donate as You Shop

We will soon share details of a phone app or computer program you can use to make purchases from hundreds of vendors that provide several percentage points or more to the Temple. Please watch this space.

In the meanwhile, we are always happy to receive your checks or cash (in person, do not mail).

PayPal Continues Except for Point of Sale

You may have read the PayPal is making changes too, but those changes do not affect you logging onto our website and clicking the PayPal link, the first link on our Give page.

Rather PayPal is discontinuing its PayPal Here program which linked the Temple’s PayPal account to remote devices so we could accept payments during events like our Bazaar or fundraisers. The program discontinues April 3. Our Treasurer’s group is researching other options and is confident we will be able to take your credit card payments for future events.

Learn more about the PayPal Here discontinuation.
