School Backpack Donation Drive A Huge Success
The Buddhist Temple of San Diego and its Dana Group officially closed this donation drive on June 20th. We had a great response from temple members and Dharma friends who donated a total of $482. Some left checks at temple while others made donations through PayPal. The amount we received allowed us to place a wholesale order of 144 backpacks at bagsinbulk.com. The original goal was to raise enough funds for 100 backpacks, so we went above and beyond that goal thanks to the generosity of the individuals and families who supported this worthy cause.
The backpacks were recently delivered to Hope for San Diego to be filled with school supplies and then given to Casa de Amistad for distribution at a local elementary school. In the pictures below we see Streets of Hope volunteers preparing to fill the backpacks.
Again, we wish to thank everyone who supported this drive. Your generosity will better prepare these kids for the upcoming school year.
