9:00 a.m. Sangha Hall, Intro to Buddhism with Kaytee Sumida
In the Hondo (top floor of our main building)
9:15 a.m. for Chanting Practice (new poeple welcome)
10:00 a.m. Kansho (Calling Bell) welcomes you and Rev. Smitty leads us in ritual and provides Dharma School message.
10:30 a.m. (approximate) Dharma School students and teachers excused to classes; service continues for adults as
Rev. Smitty gives the adult message.
11:15 a.m.(approximate) service ends and there will be two options for our Sangha and Dharma Friends:
Hospitality with light refreshments in our Dining Hall on the Office Level.
Free Documentary, Carving the Divine, with $10 Fundraiser Lunch, will take place next door in our Annex Hall. It is not necessary to buy lunch to watch the film. Please preorder your lunches ASAP; quantities are limited, so call the temple to check for availability. Doors open between 11:15 and 11:20. See below for more information.
Livestream of Service. If you are not able to join in person, we plan to livestream the service in real time on our YouTube channel page. The documentary is not part of the livestream.
We are honored to show,
for the first time in San Diego,
CARVING THE DIVINE,
a documentary on the Busshi (carvers) of Japan
on September 24th.
The film has been shown at film festivals in Spain,
Columbia, Japan, Australia and others.
We will also have a fundraiser for Maui
with a Chicken Pot Pie Lunch and a
Bake Sale by the Dharma School.
Please call the temple to check for remaining tickets for lunch.
We will happily accept donations for Maui and/or the film maker,
Yuji Seki, who is still promoting his film.
