The Temple Marched in the LGBT Pride Parade with Our Taiko Group on a Float -- and Sensei Drove
The San Diego Pride Parade is one of the largest pride parades in the country -- and for years now the Buddhist Temple of San Diego has joined in support.
This year we had a sizable contingent as shown. The Taiko group and Sangha members were joined by Resident Minister Rev. Dr. Kenji Akahoshi and our intrepid Minister's Assistants: Laverne Imori, Noriko Kawai, and Maribeth Smith.
Thanks to Ken Muraoka who lent his truck and flatbed trailer which became our float in the parade. Because Ken was out of town and could not drive, a call went out for drivers and when no one else stepped up, Sensei saved the day and became our driver.
By the way, we had our biggest participation from temple members this year yet, so thank you all!
