BWA News (2018-10) in October
Almond Brittle Fundraiser. The BWA has started the annual fund raiser of Almond Brittle. A 1-pound bag of delicious almond brittle is $16, a 5-ounce bag is $6, and a 10-ounce bag of the brittle popcorn is $7.50. We will be selling it after services. The brittle is delicious and makes great gifts.
Addressing World Buddhist Women’s Convention Shortfall. Our three BWA representatives brought back requests from the Federal BWA to encourage contributions to the anticipated financial shortfall of $300,000 for the World Buddhist Women’s Convention to be held in San Francisco August 31- September 1, 2019. This convention is held every four years and rotated among five regions; Japan, Canada, U.S., Brazil, and Hawaii. This event brings many delegates, with Japan usually having the largest contingency. We hope that many of our local members will make every effort to attend the convention.
Arigato Obaachan Program. To assist in raising money for the financial shortfall, the Bay District has started the Arigato Obaachan campaign. Please consider honoring a past or current BWA member by purchasing a leaf to be posted at the San Francisco convention by December 31st.
Makizushi Fundraiser. The BWA will sell makizushi after the Eitaikyo service. The cost is $6 for an uncut roll of makizushi. Member preparation for this event will be 9:30 am on Saturday, November 10. On Sunday, November 11, the rice cookers will be starting at 7:00 am and rollers and assistants will start at 8:00 am.
Thank You Everyone. Thank you for your continued support of the BWA.
