BTSD Performances Coming Soon, Including Taikopalooza

PERFORMANCES IN NOVEMBER

BTSD Taiko supports community events through the year, and upcoming performances incude the following:

  • SDSU Peace Village (event part of International Education Week) on November 21 at 11:30 a.m.

San Diego State University’s International Education Week (IEW) runs November 18 - 22. SDSU sees it as an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. All events are open to the entire campus community to highlight San Diego State's engagement in International Education. Learn more.

  • Taikopalooza 2024 on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the WorldBeat Cultural Center, 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Doors open 4:30 p.m.)

BTSD Taiko joins an extravagant program of Taiko groups from all around San Diego. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., the concert starts at 5 p.m., and BTSD Taiko’s performance is scheduled for 5:20 p.m., following Shoken-Ji Taiko (Vista Buddhist Temple).

Other taiko troupes include Asayake Taiko, Genbu Taiko, La Jolla Taiko, Naruwan Taiko, Yamane Taiko, San Diego Taiko, and Shishi Mai (Japanese Lion Dance).

Tickets are $25.31 (including fees) and are available online via Eventbrite.

BTSD Taiko hopes to announce performance times for a holiday event at the Pioneer Museum in El Centro on Saturday, December 7, so stay tuned.

Even if you can’t attend one of the performances, you can attend rehearsals as a guest after most Sunday Services at the Temple. As a courtesy, introduce yourself to the Taiko leaders, usually Bobby or Chelsey Koga.
