Copyright Issues and Assumptions

To You as Creator. When you send us a photo or video, you retain copyright but assign limited and noncommercial copyright to the Temple.

Temple’s Limited Copyright. The Temple will note its copyright in its use of the material, with these explicit limitations:

  • Our copyright may be revoked by you at any time and for any reason.

  • Our copyright is limited to our own, first-party publications for our own publications, including but not limited to our Website articles and video postings, using YouTube or like services, if the video is not yet posted to the service in question.

  • Otherwise, we are not able to reassign or sell copyright to a third party.

Temple’s Asserted Rights under Presumed Assignment. We retain the following limited rights:

  • We will be able to post your video or other artwork to third-party sites in a noncommercial application, such as YouTube or like services.

  • For images, that is, photographs or other graphic artwork, including “frames” or capture of a video image, we would be able to use such images in future publications on Temple history.

  • The Temple may not always be able to credit your video or image in some cases.

  • The Temple may chose NOT to publish your contribution.

Why Does the Temple Assert Copyright and Post Copyright Notices?

The Temple copyrights its website articles and videos as a matter of course to allow some legal basis for managing the future of these intellectual assets. We believe it is better to assert such rights before publication should issues arise.

Other Copyright Issues. The Temple may chose not to publish your photo or video for its own reasons, but especially if it is determined that there are additional third-party rights associated, as, for example, in the rendition of popular songs.
