Celebrate the Birth of Buddha: Hanamatsuri, the Flower Festival

Reverend Laverne Imori and the Temple welcome Certified Minister’s Assistant, Blake Honda, to help us observe our most colorful Sunday of the year, Hanamatsuri. Rev. Imori will officiate, and Blake Honda will provide Dharma messages for our youth and adults.
Ann Ong will chair the service, and Robert Yamamoto, guitarist, will provide musical accompaniment.
If you are not able to join in person, we plan to livestream the service in real time on our YouTube channel page.

Optional: 9:15 a.m., BTSD Chanting Group, New members welcome.
Come early to offer kanbutsu, the pouring of sweet tea to bathe a statue of the infant Buddha.
10:00 a.m. Procession to precede the Hanamatsuri Service
10:40 a.m. Dharma School students excused to individual classes.
11:30 a.m. or later, the English-speaking Sangha will be excused. We hope many of you have pre-ordered food for our Tostada/Bingo Fiesta, which will start in our Annex Hall, following the close of service.

About Blake Honda, CMA
Blake Honda is a Certified Minister’s Assistant and a full-time student in the Master's of Divinity program at the Institute of Buddhist Studies. A ministerial candidate, he is preparing for Tokudo ordination in Kyoto later this year. Before he began his graduate studies, Blake spent years in the business world with the North American Food Distribution Co. in West Sacramento, and in the nonprofit arena with the Central California Nikkei Foundation (Vintage Gardens Assisted Living).
