Keiro Kai, Sunday, April 23, Honors Pioneers
The Japanese Coordinating Council of San Diego has a long history of sponsoring a celebration of Japanese American pioners, our most valuable and most senior citizens. The Keiro Kai luncheon was on hiatus through the pandemic but had a joyous return at the Budhiist Temple on Sunday, April 23.
Our Temple cosponsors the event and we have Sangha members among the honorees. Among these honorees is centenarian Ruth (Umeko) Voorhies.
Courtesy of Shirley Omori, here are candid snaps of the event. along with a video dancers dancing to Tanko Bushi — performed by Matsumae Kai — including Ruth!
