Friendly Dharma May 7; May Birthdays!

Dharma and Fellowship
Sunday @ 10 a.m.

JOIN US for our Dharma service Sunday morning. You will be able to enjoy the peace and calm of our worship hall and words of comfort from our speakers. If you have a birthday in May, please come so you can join others born in May and we can sing Happy Birthday to you.

Bill Teague, Certified Minister’s Assistant is our Dharma Leader and host, and will lead our chanting and provide a message for young and old. Kimberly Kruse is the chairperson for the service. Following the service, Kaytee Sumida, Minister’s Assistant, will lead the adult discussion, while our youth attend Dharma School classes.

Schedule

10:00 a.m. Ringing of the Kansho or calling bell to begin the service.
10:40 a.m. Dharma School students excused to individual classes, and adults to the Adult Discussion Class downstairs on the Office Level, across from the kitchen/dining room.
Around 11:30 a.m., classes and discussion will conclude, followed by our friendly hospitality, which provides light refreshments, in our dining room, on the Office Level.

COVID PRECAUTIONS: Masks are recommended indoors throughout the Temple campus. For more about our Covid precautions, see here

We hope to connect with you on Sunday! If not in person, please check for our livestream of the service, starting at 10 a.m. on our YouTube Channel at

The more the merrier. Please feel free to forward this email to your friends and family.

All ages are welcome to join in-person without prior registration.

   Notes:

  • Although our monthly memorial, Shotsuki Hoyo, is usually held on the first of each month, in May it will be held on Sunday, May 21, as part of our Gotan-E service. This rescheduling is to accommodate the many Temple members currently on a visit to Kyoto, Japan. Gotan-E observes the birth of our founder Shinran Shonin. For Gotan-E, a major service in our tradition, we welcome Supervising Minister Rev. Gregory Gibbs, who will preside and read the Shotsuki names of loved ones who passed away in May.

  • The BTSD Chanting Group will not meet this Sunday (ordinarily it meets at 9:15).

  • Our livestream option does not include the adult discussion class.
