Special Afternoon Informal Dharma Talk
Saturday May 18, 2024, at 5 p.m.
In our Sangha Hall, In Person Only
Rev. Ungyo Lynn Sugiyama
Arizona Buddhist Temple
Please help us welcome Rev. Sugiyama on Saturday, when he will share insights into the Wasan of Shinran Shonin. The Wasan are a kind of hymn, written in colloquial Japanese in which Shinran celebrates his appreciation for the Pure Land teachings. Shinran started writing such Wasan at the age of 76, and created several collections.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Off-street parking is provided in our Temple parking lot.
This talk is organized by the Buddhist Education Committee.
The Strategic Planning Committee of our Board of Directors is sharing the Temple Mission Statement above, that will guide us in planning for the future. The statement results from over a year of interviewing Temple members and hundreds of hours of meaningful discussions. Note the focus on the three pillars of Religion, Culture, and Education. Further updates on our strategic planning are forthcoming.
