Join Us to Learn Resilience from a Folk Toy! and More
Simple Dharma Service for Sunday, Janauary 22
JOIN US TOMORROW for our informal Dharma Service to learn more about resilience. The service allows us to find a few moments of peace and calm in the peace and calm of our Temple.
Minister's Assistant Bill Teague will provide brief ritual and a Dharma talk for youth. Our Dharma School's High School Class will chair. Minister's Assistant, Arturo Rubio, will lead our adult discussion class with fascinating detail on the enlightenment of the historical Buddha.
If you are not able to join in person, we plan to livestream the service in real time on our YouTube channel page.

New Reason to Be Grateful
Three of our Minister's Assistants have been approved to be certified. Certification will take place with a special appearance of Bishop Marvin Harada on Sunday, February 19. The MAs are Arturo Rubio, Sharon Sasaki, and Yukari Williams.
As Certified Ministerial Assistants, they will be officially sanctioned by the BCA to provide Dharma messages and assist in other aspects of religious services, under the supervision of the resident minister (or supervising minister). Certified MAs receive a short black robe and a special monto shikisho (sash or kesa).
Note: People sometimes ask if we should use titles with Certified MAs, but that is not the case. When MAs are ordained, like Rev. Smitty and Rev. Laverne, we should acknowledge them as Sensei, Reverend, or Minister.
Congratulations, Arturo, Sharon, and Yukari!
