BREAKING NEWS: Watch Special Event in Kyoto LIVE Tonight

 
 

With apologies for this last minute notice, we were last night that we csn watch the Joint Celebration of the 850th Anniversary of Shinran Shonin’s Birth and 800th Anniversary of Jodo Shinshu Propagation.

A livestream will be availble tonight, Tuesday, May 9, at 6 pm.

The event in Kyoto will be conductedat Kyoto Nishi Hongwanji Head Temple on Wednesday, May 10 at 10:00 a.m. (local time). For us, it will be Tuesday at 6 p.m.

  • 5:45 p.m.. Howa: Dharma Talk (Japanese only)

  • 6:00 p.m.: Service (expected to last about an hour)

  • 7:00 p.m.:  Message by Gomonshu; recitation of new Ryogemon; Ondokusan

Language

It is likely there will be more Japanese than English, as implied by the announcement we received: “We will use the chat feature for explanations during the service but there will be no voice-over.”
