TOPIC: In this age of darkness, in which greed, anger, and foolishness abound, Shin Buddhism offers insights that can bring about a transformation of consciousness and cultivate a culture of compassion in ourselves and the world.

SPEAKER: Rev. David Matsumoto is the President of the Institute of Buddhist Studies (IBS) in Berkeley, California, where he also serves as the George & Sakaye Aratani Professor of Contemporary Shin Buddhist Studies. He has served as a resident minister at the Stockton Buddhist Temple and Berkeley Buddhist Temple. He has translated numerous Japanese scholarly and religious writings into English and has written articles on narrative theory, translation studies, and theologies of disability from a contemporary Shin Buddhist perspective.
