For Students and Seekers, Intro to Buddhism and Buddhism Zero thru End of Year

Intro to Buddhism Last Sunday EACH MONTH @ 9 AM

or Buddhism Zero Presented on Your Schedule

For Fall, 2023, we offer two programs to fit your schedule.

For visitors new to our Temple or who have basic questions about Buddhism, and for students on assignment to learn more about another religion, choose one or both:

  • Intro to Buddhism: an hour-long presentation with a brief history of Buddhism in the world, key aspects of our Shin tradition (Jodo Shinshu), and temple etiquette. With Minister’s Assistant Kaytee Sumida. Following the course, attendees are invited to the Sunday service in our Main Hall or Hondo. (There will be no session in December.)

  • Buddhism Zero: an open-ended question session for individuals at any point in their spiritual journey. With Minister’s Assistant Bill Teague and other MAs and Temple Members. Sessions run 90 minutes or less. (There are no sessions for the last two Wednesdays in December.)

In-Person or Via Zoom

Currently Intro to Buddhism is in-person at the Temple, meeting in our Sangha Hall. The Sangha Hall is the one-story building on our property. Buddhism Zero is available via Zoom.

Call or Email to Schedule or Ask Questions

The Temple’s email address is info@btsd.net. Our phone number is 619-239-0896.

Many thanks for your interest.

Note: For those looking to learn more in a discussion class setting, consider Buddhism 1-2-3, Wednesday nights at 7 p.m., presented via Zoom. The three parts of Buddhism 1-2-3 are chanting, meditation, and discussion.
